Accounting Manager
Type: 1099 contract, part-time hourly.  Future consideration for FTE with benefits. remote
Pay: 40-55 /hour
Hours: 20-30 hrs./week

Location: Atlanta, GA
Reports to: Controller/CFO
Direct Reports: Staff Accountants & Accounting Administrator

Position Overview: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting team, managing client engagements, and ensuring compliance and quality control. This position requires strong leadership, process development, and prior experience in construction accounting or staffing/consulting businesses. The Accounting Manager will act as a key coordinator between departments and serve as the point of escalation before issues reach the CFO.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management & Development:
·      Oversee, train, and develop Staff Accountants and Accounting Administrator.
·      Manage day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including task delegation and performance      oversight. 

Client Engagement & Quality Control:
·      Develop, expand, and renew client relationships to ensure long-term engagements.
·      Perform quality control on accounting deliverables and client-facing work products.
·      Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and escalations.
 
Financial Oversight & Compliance:
·      Monitor daily consultant timekeeping and ensure accuracy.
·      Conduct monthly client labor Budget vs. Actual cost analysis, ensuring compliance with financial control.
 ·     Oversee process development, automation, and compliance within the accounting department.
 
Coordination & Communicate:
·     Collaborate with Sales, HR, and Operations department managers for cross-functional initiatives.
·     Coordinate with the Family Office Manager for routine tasks and delegated responsibilities.
·     Serve as the department gatekeeper, managing inquiries and requests directed to the accounting team.
 
Problem Solving & Escalation:
·     Act as the primary point of internal escalation, approval, and problem resolution for accounting matters before escalation to the CFO.
 
Staff Accountant Duties:
·     Perform routine Staff Accountant and client engagement tasks on assigned matters as needed.
 
Requirements:
Experience:
·      Prior experience in construction accounting.
·      Prior experience in staffing and consulting business environments.
 
Skills & Competencies:
·      Strong leadership and team management skills.
·      Expertise in process development, automation, and financial compliance.
·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and cross-departmental interactions.
·      Analytical mindset with experience in budget vs. actual cost analysis.
·      Ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time capacity.
 
Technical Proficiencies:
·      Proficiency in accounting software and tools (specific platforms to be determined).
·      Familiarity with timekeeping systems and financial reporting tools.
 
Work Environment:
·      Part-time, 1099 contractor position based in Atlanta, GA.
·      Flexible weekly schedule, coordinated with the Controller/CFO.
