Commercial Construction Superintendent
Job Summary: The Superintendent will help plan, manage and execute all aspects of assigned projects. This position will be responsible for supervising the field construction of a project, coordinating with sub-contractors, ensuring documentation is complete and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of all projects. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of Hollandsworth Construction.
Salary: $100,000-$130,000
Job Responsibilities / Duties (not limited to the following)
· Provide leadership and establish and maintain effective relationships with project participants, including tradesmen, sub-contractors, clients/owners, and the public.
· Have a complete understanding of the General Contract, each Subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications.
· Assist the Project Manager in the development of on-site procedures and review contract documents for design deficiencies, impractical details, or code violations.
· Assist the Project Manager and Scheduling Manager in developing and refining the Project Schedule, ensuring that schedules are kept updated and that project milestones are met.
· Ensure Quality Control of the project
· Review the Construction Program with the Project Manager, including quality control procedures, safety practices, field office layout, temporary utilities, and staging areas.
· Coordinate, direct, and monitor the activities of subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with the project’s requirements. Verify that each subcontractor has completed all contractual requirements, including Certificates of Insurance, fully executed Subcontracts, and a Safety Program before beginning work on-site.
· Work with inspection agencies to address remedial actions as indicated in their reports.
· Oversee weekly coordination meetings and monthly safety meetings with the subcontractors and issue typewritten minutes to the Project Manager.
· Receive and review Subcontractors' daily reports, ensuring that all work has been done, and that labor, and materials are properly recorded. Review and approve all as-built prints and ensure timely preparation of monthly requisitions.
· Maintain good relations and communication with all parties involved in the project, ensuring smooth operations and timely resolution of any issues. Must have a Client forward attitude.
· Be willing to assist with all tasks – small and large- and project duties across different areas of the business, from administrative support to project coordination.
· Must be willing to travel to job sites when needed, supporting both on-site coordination and project oversight.
· Obtain / Maintain OSHA 30
Experience & Education
· Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
· While not required, experience with digital tools and software will be an asset. The ability to work with modern project management software is preferred.
· 1 year of Superintendent experience required, Commercial or Civil job experience preferred
· Preferred: 5+ years’ office/and or field experience in construction
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
