Fractional Controller
Type: 1099 contract, part-time hourly, remote
Pay: $60-$75/hour, depending on experience
Hours: 10-20/week (potential to increase over time if desired)


Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fractional Controller to join our finance team and work with our external clients-primarily in the construction industry. This role will play a crucial part in managing financial activities across multiple clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making for the client and Level Workforce.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management for Client
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Communicate appropriately and regularly with client and team members within the client organization
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations for both the company and clients.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
Internal Controls
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
Compliance and Audit
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations and ensure the company's financial practices comply with relevant standards.
  • Work closely with external auditors during audits.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and identify trends or opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and customized reports for internal and client use.
Collaboration and Client Engagement
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients regarding financial matters, addressing inquiries and providing timely updates.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their accounting needs and provide strategic financial guidance.
  • Act as a key liaison between the finance department and other departments within the organization.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred but is not required
  • 5 years of experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role; commercial construction experience required
  • Proficiency in Sage 100 required; familiarity with QuickBooks Online and other construction industry software is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and strong technical accounting skills.
  • Percentage completion accounting experience is preferred and will be very beneficial in the success of this role
  • Proven experience leading an accounting team and managing cross-departmental financial initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, charts, and graphs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
